A Little Field Trip

So we got notice that a home school group was doing a field trip to the Reynolds museum, I decided that I would pull the kids from school to go because it looked interesting.  So Wednesday we got up and headed to Wetaskiwin.
We took a pancake making class where the kids learned about wheat and how they harvested it by hand.  They got to try it and then we went and made pancakes.  Threshing and sifting.

Trying out a crank that turned wheels

 Sitting in an old car.

Taylor and Elyssa went off and took a kites and crashes class as well.  They had to decide iif inventions would crash or fly.  Then they went off to make a kite.

We then went to the airplane hangar and they got to climb in a helicopter and learn how it works.
 And an airplane too.

Yes Taylor was there.  It was a homeschool function and she just went off with different kids so her pictures are limited.  Hey Taylor I would be careful with Jayden driving that car.

 Shaun in a tractor.
This was probably the boys favorite thing of all.  They spent a lot of time in it.

We had a great day and hopefully there will be more field trips for us all to go on again.

The New Stuff

We had dad here over the weekend, although I did not take many pictures.  We went to a wedding for my cousin in Pibroch, which is not just they way you read it.  I am not sure how but the I says e, I am going to have to search my homeschool books for Shaun to figure out how.  Anyways.  I made them a quilt for a wedding present so here it is.
I am not sure why the bottom of the picture is like that
Shaun suggested going bowling with dad so we did the night before he left.  This is not a clear picture but Jayden got a strike
This was the scene yesterday after school.  Since we moved we have like 200 books out of the library and we have to go multiple times a week because this happens a lot.  Shaun is reading his reader that he just finished for school.  I asked Taylor how Shaun was doing and she said she had no idea but he was reading words that would come out of a book like that.  She gets so involved in her books that yesterday I had gotten a book out for her because I thought that it might work for her book report and she was into it and I said that she must be enjoying it because she was a chunk into it.  She replies yeah I am 55 pages into it and I am still in the first chapter.  I thought that was a little odd so I grabbed the book from her and flipped back one page and she was really in the 11th chapter.  Such a silly girl.

Cross Country Run

Yesterday was the cross country run.  So we headed up to Innisfail.  It was nice for when the girls had to do their runs but it did start chilly and after Elyssa was done it got chilly again, not as bad as last year tho.
Keisha hiding with the girls in her class
A view from behind the starting line
As the kids got to the top of the hill someone said to me that they thought that the person that was first was Keisha, taking a look way up the hill sure enough I recognized the stride and the clothes.  That is her the first blob there.  Forgot my camera but this is the phone zoomed in as much as possible
Here she comes.  It is hard to cheer and take pictures at the same time.
There she is the happy girl

 There is the red ribbon

Elyssa goofing off at the starting line which is much better than last year.

Elyssa coming into the finish line.  She did end up passing this girl
She finished 13 out of 140.  She had a great run.
