A Week Away

When mom was here as a last minute thought I looked into going to Family Camp.  They had room for us to go. Yeah a week with no cooking.  At the camp they have set up carports with an extra tarp on top, they are on a raised platform and have bunks down both sides and sleep 8, there is also power to them and a little sitting area that is outside but covered, so this is what we were going to stay in.  Yes I was taking the kids to something I had never been to for a week on my own.  Doug brought the motorhome that he had been staying in out in Drum home a week before we were to leave and his boss said that we could use it.  Much nicer than a carport.  Still a week of no cooking.  Saturday late afternoon we headed out to camp, got set up, checked in, and then Doug was off  because he was working on the Sunday.  We had a super late night Saturday as I had to figure things out and then figure out who could sleep where.  Sunday morning we got up got the bus and got breakfast, came back and had a rest. We then went to lunch and came back for a rest,  I could get used to that.  We ended up having a lot of naps and a lot of early bed times.  I ended up having a kid in bed by 6 every night, sometimes kids were volunteering to go to bed, I even put Taylor to bed at 6 one day but she had been at camp the week before and was super tired.  Most days we went for breakfast (we had to ride a school bus to another part of the camp and yes the bus drivers answered all of Shaun's questions), then went to the program, had lunch, went to the river, had dinner and then bed. By mid week Taylor and Elyssa started going to the evening program.  Here are some pictures.

 Throwing lots of rocks

 Look Grandma J a smile

A great big smile Grandma J

Making a boat from part of a log we found
Another boy found a frog and Elyssa got to hold him.

On another note sleeping with Elyssa can be dangerous

I only took one bus shot
 Playing at the park
The tire swing was very popular

Keisha, Shaun and Jay outside where their preschool program was
See you can even make a fort in a motorhome
 Shaun and Elyssa walking
One day they did a hay ride.

We had lots of fun and hopefully we can go again next year.

It was a test for me to see if I could keep up with the laundry: Taylor left for camp on a Monday and came home on Saturday, we all left for family camp on the Saturday and came home on the Sunday, then Keisha and Elyssa went to camp on the Tuesday.

On a side note we got a new computer so it will make doing this a lot easier.  Our last one would just crash and then I would have to start over, so I will be getting caught up just in time for back to school.
